How do I know that I’m doing what God designed me to do?

Rest in God

It always starts with God. And it always ends with God. He is your creator, who created you for a purpose. And the first, overriding purpose for all of creation is to express the glory of God. So start by knowing and resting in God. As you come to know him, you will not only be more equipped to express his glory, but you will also begin to know yourself as he knows you.

Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. (Luke 12:31aThe Message)

Believe that God will provide

This is often understood as meaning that God will provide for your physical needs. But he will also provide freedom from fear or unnecessary concern. He has grace for every situation.

Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Don’t be afraid of missing out. You’re my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself. (Luke 12:31-32The Message)

Not only does God have your answer, he wants to provide for you. Don’t worry about missing out!

Do what you know to do.

“Be generous. Give to the poor. Get yourselves a bank that can’t go bankrupt, a bank in heaven far from bankrobbers, safe from embezzlers, a bank you can bank on. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being. (Luke 23:33-35The Message)

Go with your strengths

Do what comes naturally (in the Spirit). This not a call to follow the “natural man”, nor is it a call to eschew discipleship for the “easier” life of mediocrity. Rather, it is to look for what God is doing and how God uses you and then just do do what God puts in front of you.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.(Ecc. 9:10)
